How to Dress for Your Body

by: Lorena Hixson

Who here has trouble dressing for their body type? 🙋‍♀️ I used to think because I didn’t have the “perfect” body, clothes wouldn’t fit me right. I would go into a store and try on 20 things and only find one thing that fit. Turns out, I was constantly trying to put clothes on my body that didn’t fit or flatter me.

I was so worried about going up a size, that I would try and fit into clothes that were too small and then body shame myself. Fuck that. Clothes are meant to fit my body, not the other way around. When I finally went for the large top and for the double digit pant sizes, I could breathe. I didn’t have marks on my skin and I felt comfortable. When I felt comfortable, I felt confident.

Here’s 3 things to remember next time you are trying on clothes

  1. Instead of focusing on the size, focus on how you feel. Can your breathe when you button those jeans, can you sit down and not feel like your circulation is getting cut off?
  2. Try clothes that you aren’t usually drawn too. You might surprise yourself and find a style that flatters you and makes you feel confident.
  3. Don’t compare yourself to the size 0 model. Their bodies are unrealistic and not representative of how the average women looks. Not to mention, they have been airbrushed and their real bodies don’t even look like that.

You deserve to look and feel good!
