‘Tis the season of GIVING!

I know that this year has been anything but normal, and many of us have had to cancel holiday plans, but the theme of giving during the holidays has definitely not been cancelled. Gift giving, sending holiday cards, and donating toys to charities is part of what makes this time of year so special, so it seemed like the perfect time to focus on giving for an entire box’s theme.

Giving is also a huge part of self-care and self-love. Arianna Huffington did a wonderful piece on why giving is such a powerful form of self care in that it “is one of the most effective and proven ways to boost our well-being, transforming the giver as much as the recipient.”

December’s theme is Give Back, and by subscribing to this box, you have done just that! We featured women-owned companies that give back and focus on generosity in big ways.

This month’s book is Work It by Carrie Kerpen. Work It arms every woman with the courage and skills to achieve success and happiness on her terms. The team loves how this book showcases stories about not only how women have faced challenges, but how they overcame them. With chapters like “Fail Fantastically” and “Crack Your Confidence Code”, we were all about reading this one, because we’ve all been there. Carrie also explains why women must stop criticizing one another (as we’ve been conditioned to do) and leverage their collective power. We are truly better together, and women empower women.

This book is published by tarcherperigee, an imprint of Penguin Random House. PRH is well known for their generosity and give-back nature with programs like providing college scholarships, donating over 16.7 million books, sponsoring Black-Owned Businesses, and giving thanks to healthcare and essential workers and their children.

The Daily Download Notepad by inkWELL Press is great for reflecting on your day and celebrating yourself. We have never seen a notepad quite like this. You can track your priorities and how you’re working toward your goals, and also measure you you felt throughout the day. Did you put too much on your plate? It’s always nice to receive something in the mail that isn’t another bill, and even better when it’s a thoughtful note from a friend who was thinking about you. Plus, we think these are especially great this year, since we haven’t been able to travel as much and see our friends as often as we’re used to.

Marie Mae Company funds the Marie Mae Business School, which includes classes and training for underserved women and entrepreneurs around the world, empowering trafficking and domestic violence survivors with the business skills they need to succeed.

This Holiday Cheer candle by Kuhdoo somehow included all of my favorite, nostalgic holiday scents into one candle. Some subscribers received the scent of Vanilla Bean, which is equally lovely.

Kuhdoo gives back by giving a percentage of their proceeds to a deserving organization that is “BREWING CHANGE” in their community. They are located in Austin, Texas, which is where Passion & Growth was born as well!
