There’s no better way to celebrate yourself than through the act of self-care. Do you know why? Because there is nothing more personal, more unique, and more soothing than giving yourself the attention you deserve. No one can give you self-care like you can give yourself because no one knows you as well as you know yourself.
Because we’re in a giving mood, we thought we’d pass along a few of our favorite self-care tips, tricks, and resources to give you a little gentle nudge in the right direction.
1) Set aside several hours or even an entire evening or day where you don’t have to answer to anyone except yourself. Then, do anything and everything you want to do – even if that’s just laying down and watching the clouds pass by.
2) Have a new restaurant you’ve wanted to try but haven’t found the right person to go with? Treat yourself and make that reservation for one! Then, Enjoy every moment of your date with yourself.
3) Get outside – whether that’s in your own backyard, on a nature trail, or spending a relaxing day at the beach. Bonus points if you take at least 15 minutes to stand barefoot in the grass or on the sand. (Trust us, it makes a difference!)
4) Pamper. Pamper. Pamper! Enjoy a long, hot bubble bath with candles, a glass of wine, and your favorite chill-out soundtrack, movie, or tv show. Paint your nails (or get that mani, pedi, facial you’ve been putting off because you don’t have the time), treat yourself to a soothing face mask, and put on your most comforting and soothing outfit.
5) Squeeze in an extra workout, practice some stress-relieving yoga, or settle in for a full body-scan meditation session. Check-in with your body and any tension, stress, stiffness, or soreness you might be feeling, then treat that area with a self-massage, hot shower, or a heat pad – whatever feels best to you!
Again, self-care is so very personal – what feels soothing to your best friend may not be the right self-care for you. Seek out exercises and activities that bring you comfort, peace, and joy – and relish that time without apology!
